1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Afternoon Session

Description: The models and methods of Human Performance Technology (HPT) can be daunting when we try to apply them in fast-paced organizations with non-specialist stakeholders and clients.  Our jargon and complexity often get in the way.  How can we make the greatest possible impact over time, cutting through the usual organizational silos in the process?  There is a solution to this dilemma! The popular one-day Introduction to Performance Thinking workshop provides a new, clearer understanding of human performance by means of simple mental models, and plain English, and straightforward tools anyone at any level can use to accelerate organizational results through people.  Whether you’re new to performance improvement or an experienced performance expert, this program will give you language and tools to help you become a more effective performance improvement professional and a better manager of people.

Learning Objectives: As a result of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze human performance and how it contributes to business results
  • Communicate about performance and its drivers in plain English with clients and stakeholders
  • Assess and improve the conditions that obstruct and enable performance
  • Design new performance solutions that help you optimize ROI and employee engagement.
Using a combination of lectures, structured discussion, and brief exercises, this program lays a foundation for understanding and improving performance.  As the perquisite for Dr. Binder’s more advanced Six Boxes Practitioner Program, a combination of workshop plus follow-up coaching that organizations adopt to develop teams of performance consultants, this workshop will give you a fresh look at the profound models and methods that underlie classic Human Performance Technology.
